Why are promises important? We have chatted about ethics but should there be a place in law for a person's perspective on ethics? If we look at a person's or entity's individual perspective can we ever really have justice? If we look at the objective perspective what happens to the ethical or moral intent of a society as a whole?

So back to promises.... are they all enforceable or do we make allowances?.... in business... professionally??? When a person promises to love, honor, obey, for better or for worse etc..... we allow those promises to be withdrawn.... sometimes for a reason and in some states there is no need to even explain

Should that be the case in contract law? E.G. I just am tired of this contract and I want a new business partner??? What are the pros and cons of "keeping the parties to live up to their responsibilities"?
