Wind Load

To calculate wind load for charged$-$up brewpub, we had to take into consideration the Geological

location, direction of the wind, the shape and size of the building along with the joist and column

spacing. Based on our geological location we could figure out our reference velocity pressure,

found in appendix $C$ from the $BC$ building code $[1].$we then decided to calculate two possible

wind loads based on a West East wind and a North South wind.

Once we established the specifications of the building and direction of the wind we could start

solving for factors such as exposure, topographic, gust effect and external pressure coefficient.

Now that we solved our factor we then moved towards solving the internal and external

pressures on roof cladding and joists for ultimate limit state $($ULS$),$ found on table $4\mathrm{.}1\mathrm{.}7\mathrm{.}6-$C in

the $BC$ building code $[1].$ After this step we then moved to solving internal and external

pressures on the wall girts and wall cladding for ultimate limit state $($ULS$),$ found on table

$4\mathrm{.}1\mathrm{.}7\mathrm{.}6-$B in the bc building code $[1].$

Once the values are calculated from the previous tables, we can now calculate specified wind

loads on a typical interior frame for the strength design of frame members using table $4\mathrm{.}1\mathrm{.}6\mathrm{.}7-$A

from the BC building code $[1].$ Since our building has a flat roof there are only three areas that

need to be calculated, two sides and the roof, which gave us three external pressures and three

internal pressures.

Through this detailed analysis of both external and internal pressures influenced by varying wind

directions, and by applying the BC Building Code guidelines, we have ensured that the

Charged$-$Up Brewpub is designed to withstand wind loads effectively, guaranteeing structural

integrity and safety under changing weather conditions.
