mm. Use the efficient number of bolts and determine the maximum percentage of the tension
resistance of glulam that can be utilized when transferring the tension force by 1" bolts (ASTM A
307 bolts). It is a schematic drawing, and you may use as many bolts as allowed in this
configuration. Two 6mm steel side plates are used. The length of overlap is 800mm, as shown in
the figure below. Assume the minimum loaded end distance in the steel side plate is 22mm. The
ultimate strength of the steel plate is fu=400MPa. Use the formulas in CSA O86. Also, indicate
which failure mode governs.
