Without using loops or lists, how do I write a python code that will allow me to add the digits of the integer? (I.e '347' should give the sum '14')

Online I found:

integer = 347 sum(map(int, str(integer)))

However, is there an alternative way to do this? If not, could you explain what each part of the code means? Thank you!
