Word Count: 1500 words (+/ -10%)
Submission Instructions: Submission via FLO
Details:
You are required to identify an organisation and their diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives and management practices. Provide brief information about the organisation, including age, industry, areas of operation, number of employees and demographic distribution. You can use an organisation that you are or have worked for, or an organisation that you are familiar with (e.g., through personal sources and/or online sources), or search online for an organisation and find the relevant information. You do not have to use the official name of the organisation if you do not wish to.
Your case study must cover the following points:
- Introduction to the organisation. 3 marks
- Identify the diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives and practices that your chosen organisation have in place, and structure your case study to address the following questions:
- What D&I practices do they have in place, and why? 10 marks
- How effective have these D&I practices been? 10 marks
- Based on your analysis, which of the paradigms covered in the topic (i.e., Thomas & Ely (1996) and/or Dass & Parker (1999)) do you think the organisation best fits into? Explain your answer. 10 marks
- What would you recommend the organisation does to improve their D&I, and why? 7 marks
Remember, not all organisations, especially smaller organisations will have formal D&I practices in place.
You can either focus on any one dimension of D&I within the organisation (e.g., gender), OR attempt to include multiple dimensions such as age, ethnicity etc. You should not discuss too many dimensions in your case study (suggested number is between 1 to 3) given the word limit.
