work ethics
Case Study No. (1)
Muhammad is a diligent and honest employee. He rose up the career ladder quickly, until he became the second man in the personnel department in the organization in which he works.
One day, the organization announced in the newspapers its need for an administrative employee, for whose work a university degree in an administrative specialization is required, with no less than three years of experience in administrative work.
Muhammad was assigned to study the applicants' files, and sort those who meet the conditions to be presented to the committee responsible for employment.
On the day set for examining the applications headed by the Director of Personnel Affairs, Muhammad brought the files of those who meet the conditions, by virtue of his membership in the committee.
When the meeting began, the personnel manager asked: Are these all requests? Muhammad replied: Yes, these are the files that meet the conditions for filling the job.
Then the director asked Muhammad to bring all the files. When Muhammad brought it, the director sorted it and took out a file from it, then ordered the appointment of the owner of that file without consulting the members of the committee, and then passed the file to Muhammad, who read the file and then passed it to another colleague in the committee.
After reading the file from all the members, it became clear to them that the application was in the name of a relative of the director, in addition to that he only holds a high school certificate and without any previous experience.
There was silence for a while, then the members of the committee began to look at Muhammad to say something, because of their confidence in his opinion and by virtue of his position in the administration.
Study the case with the members of your group and then answer the following questions:
1- Is what the manager did against the ethics of the profession?
2- Is the approval of the committee members of the directors opinion considered his participation in this work?
3- What is the best method that Muhammad and the group members should do to confront such a problem?
