working it is unlikely that you will like every aspect of your job, but still complete those tasks as they are a part of your daily duties. It can be difficult when dealing with coworkers who may think these tasks are beneath them and that their time is better spent doing other things. In a health office setting it is very important to complete your infection control measure as it puts patients and coworkers at risk for being exposed to different pathologies.
In a situation where sanitizing the waiting room chairs after each patient has been seated in one is a shared duty by all frond end staff, it can be frustrating dealing with the one employee who actively avoids this duty and even goes as far as to seat patients in unsanitized chairs.
Firstly, I would take the employee aside and ensure we cannot be heard by fellow coworkers or patients and approach them in a nonthreatening, nonjudgemental way to try and understand what is preventing them from completing the infection control measures. Depending on the answer received from the employee I would then let them know they are currently not performing as expected.
Secondly, I would communicate how their lack of contribution is affecting the other frontend staff as we all are doing our turns for the infection control measures and its not right that we must scramble to get it done when they avoid doing it I would then offer to help them find a solution that is agreeable for everyone.
I would then educate them on how important it is to complete these protocols as it helps ensure the safety of our staff and patients, and when it is not completed, they are not only putting coworkers at risk they are potentially putting patients at risk who may be immunocompromised, elderly, and infants who are all at higher risk to get more severe illnesses then other individuals.
If none of these strategies work, I would have no choice but to then go to my superior and report the issues pertaining to the coworker and One thing that you found helpful, and why, and a minimum of one additional suggestion to professionally navigate the specific situation.
When communicate the steps I have taken to preemptively remedy the situation.
