Write 3 deliverables for the following case study.
You are a Marketing Manager at Organic Food Producers Incorporated, an organization dedicated to promoting the organic food manufacturers in Canada. Your main responsibility as the Marketing Manager is to oversee the ongoing marketing campaign that promotes the consumption of Organic Food among Canadians. Some of your past advertising campaigns have had a huge impact on Organic Food consumption and the numbers of Canadians opting for organic has been increasing immensely in the past. However, recently, this has not been the case. Results are slowing and the consumption of Organic Foods has not been increasing at the same rate. You have just reviewed the latest quarterly sales report, and the numbers are not looking good. The slowing trend of Organic Food consumption is primarily going down within the older adult population, those above the age of 50 years old. Past marketing research showed that this market segment isnt as convinced of the health benefits of Organic Food, and cant justify the extra cost of a lot of the organic products that are being sold in the grocery store. They dont see that these products are really a fit for them. You know that your boss, VP of Marketing Marlee Scona is going to be worried about the latest quarterly sales results when she sees them. You try to anticipate what she might say. In preparation for your weekly meeting with Marlee, you start putting together a Draft Project Charter for a new project you would like to recommend to her. To address the slowing sales results, you would like to propose a new campaign to launch in time for the summer holidays, probably somewhere around June 25th, that better explains the benefits of Organic Food to the older population. This will involve running additional marketing research studies to better understand older peoples attitude towards Organic Products, having the creative agency come up with new ideas for a marketing campaign (you think its time to try something different), and then designing a multi-media advertising campaign to re-launch and reinvigorate the Organic Food message. You and Marlee have spoken about this before, so you think she will be supportive of this project. Of course, the VP of Marketing Research, Sheena Easter, will have to agree to dedicate resources to the marketing research part of the project (you have heard that her team is under-staffed and very busy), but you think Marlee might be able to help convince Sheena to get on board. These types of new campaigns are not a cheap endeavour; previous similar efforts cost up to $4 Million. You only have $2 Million left in this years Marketing budget allocated to you. You wonder whether it is worth asking the Chief Financial Officer, Sam Belnick, for more money for the project than what you already have in your budget. You know that the organization is strapped for money this year, so you assume that Sam wont give you the remaining $2 Million to run the project, and you will probably have to figure out how to make the project happen for the $2 Million you currently have. Based on your organizations financial criteria for projects, your new marketing campaign will have to increase Organic Food sales in Canada by at least 5%. You dont think this should be a problem; based on your analysis, this can be achieved by focusing the marketing efforts on the affluent older population. Since food is a highly-regulated category in Canada, meaning that there are government requirement and limitations imposed on any marketing promotions, you make note that any new marketing materials will need to comply with Canadian advertising rules and your Legal Department will have to review and approve all plans.
