Quantum computing relies on quantum physics using atomic-scale units (qubits) that can be both O and 1 at the same time. Amazon's cloud-based Amazon Web Services (AWS) now provides cloud quantum computing as does IBM's Q System One. With the impact that quantum computing will have on cryptography, some security professionals are advocating that protections need to be implemented before cloud computing is made generally available. These protections could include new quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms.
