Module 5
I plan to write about the balance sheet to demonstrate a businesss financial strength. Many investors may look to income statements; the balance sheet is actually their preferred starting point for building a picture of your businesss financial health. I believe this is the simplest way to summarize key financial information. This can help determine important factors of a business ability to grow and sustain. The balance sheet is usually put together at the end of a particular time period, usually a month or quarter and lists the following:
Business assets What do we have? Not just what your business owns, but what it controls or what is in its possession, such as a financed vehicle.
Liabilities What do we owe? Your debts, including loans, outstanding credit card payments, etc.
Owners equity What is left over for the owner(s)? How much of the businesss assets do you still own once youve paid off all your liabilities?
I plan to analyze this and determine why it is an essential asset/tool to demonstrate business strength
