An example of when I had to turn a problem into an equation is when I was planning a vacation with a group of 10 people. Out of the 10 people, 4 of us were assigned to coordinating the trip. I wanted to book a van big enough for all 10 of us to travel together. I was able to locate a 15-passenger van through a car rental company. I was given a quote for the 4 days the van was needed. After I received the quote of roughly $800 for 4 days of renting the van, I had to figure out how much the cost would be per person. The information given: 800 is the total for 4 days 10 is the amount of people that the total cost will be divied by. X is the caost that each person will pay to cover the rental. X=800/10 X=80 The cost per person that was needed to contribute to the rental car was $80.
