Write a response to the following post: In the case of Hansberger v. Smith, the statute in question pertained to social host liability for underage drinking. The court considered whether parents or grandparents could be held criminally responsible for providing alcohol to minors on their property.I believe the statue was correctly applied in this case due to parents and grandparents having knowledge of what was going on at the party. The parents , grandparents and party host knowingly violated the law by providing alcohol to minors and allowed them to underage drink. In whether parents/ grandparents and guardians should be criminally liable depends on the circumstances of the case. In this case guardians or parents were aware and allowed underage drinking and I believe that they should be held liable to the statute. The same for party hosts they were aware that they were providing alcohol to underage minors and allowed underage drinking and they should be held criminally responsible to the statute as well
