write a thoughtful response to your peer about the following: "The brand I have chosen to follow, Inspire for sleep apnea uses commercials on tv to reach their chosen demographic. Their target audience is a population of approximately 39 million US adults with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and 936 million adults worldwide. (Ling,2023)
When I say adult, I mean primarily overweight individuals age 30 to 70. The factors that put people at a higher risk for the development of OSA are obesity, drinking alcohol, smoking, family history, hypothyroidism, menopause, heart or kidney failure, and the anatomy of the face and neck, i.e.: having large tonsils - because even children can have sleep apnea, however they are not the target audience for this device.
I believe the commercial reaches the target audience by showing a slightly overweight, middle-aged individual, snoring loudly, struggling to sleep with CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure,) and having an upset bed partner, who leaves the bed. And the comments below the commercial agree. Having worked with CPAP uses for the past 22 years, I know this will resonate with those who have struggled to comply with this type of therapy over the years.
Is it enough to create brand awareness outside of CPAP user markets? I dont think that is their potential aim, and therefore Im not sure that is the market penetration goal."
