Question:
Write an entire speech according to the following scenario:
You were the only woman to lead an all-male team, till Natasha joined eight months ago. She is a capable associate with a pleasant personality and has a flair for the spoken and written word, qualities that make her an automatic choice for making client presentations. The other team members are also very dedicated and full of ideas and you were indeed happy with the current team composition. With Natasha joining, the team also had the benefit of gender diversity to bring in varied viewpoints. During a few recent exchanges with the team members, you have noticed that the otherwise bubbly Natasha has been rather quiet and unmindful. You have also spotted mistakes in her emails which were impeccable until a few weeks ago. Is something bothering her? You ask her to meet you and probe what was amiss and do everything to gain her trust. She confides in you that she has been struggling to fit in with the team despite desperate attempts. She has been out with them for cocktails and coffee, only to be left alone fending for herself as conversations revolved around topics that was of no interest to her. Most of them talked about bikes, cars and sports. Natasha was a sports buff herself, but had little interest in football and wrestling. No sooner did she mention that, those two became the centre of all discussion during lunch-time and post-work gatherings. It seemed to her that the team members were deliberately sending out signals that she was uninvited. She was stressed and that started affecting her work output. She couldn't help wonder if it had anything do with her being a woman, and the one who was getting opportunities to interface with clients more than others. You start questioning your belief about working for a gender inclusive workplace. You believe this is a concern that requires you to step in. You decide to the address the team to share your views.
