Now that we have completed our research projects on our "Write for a Cause" topics and we have sharpened our analytical abilities in the short answer response module, it is time to put all of our skills together to produce our analytical essay.
ANALYTICAL ESSAY (20%)
For the analytical essay assignment, you are to create an essay, 750-1500 words in length, explaining, describing, analyzing, and/or evaluating your
"Write for a Cause" topic.
The analytical essay is meant to inform the reader about a narrowed aspect of your "Write for a Cause" hypothesis/topic.
The analytical essay is:
• informative
• objective toned o fact-based
• source-based information
Essay Guidelines
. You are to submit this essay using MLA structure.
• Organize your essay with a strong introduction that includes an introductory statement, bridge, and thesis statement.
•The body paragraphs must have clear topic sentences, directly quoted evidence (or summarized if absolutely necessary), explanations for how the evidence fits the claim, and its significance. You should have several body paragraphs. Feel free to offer counterarguments in your paragraphs to help your information remain informative as opposed to persuasive.
• Finally, end your essay with a strong conclusion paragraph, where you connect the various parts of your essay through the reflect and project method
• Include an MLA Works Cited section at the end of your essay for any sources you reference.
• It is in the same format as the preliminary bibliography.

Analytical Essay Minimum Requirements
• The Write for a Cause Analytical Essay
• Five paragraphs (minimum)
• 1000 words (minimum)
• Write for a Cause topic included as the title of the essay
• Analytical Essay Introduction Paragraph Minimum Requirements
• For the research analytical essay, a historical reference introductory statement is required. In the introduction paragraph, background information about the topic is required. The details for the historical reference introductory statement are provided in the module.
• Analytical Essay Evidence Minimum Requirements
• Direct quotes and MLA parenthetical citations are required.
• Summarizing and paraphrasing are strongly discouraged for this assignment.
• MLA Parenthetical Citations require the author's last name and the page numbers for credit. For example, (Johnson 221).
• Works Cited Minimum Requirements
• Aworks cited section is required.
• All sources must be scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles from the EBSCO or GALE databases in the Collin College Library. Databases for the sources and permalinks to the sources are required to verify the source.
•Cheating Self-Plagiarism Warning
• You must write a new essay.
• You cannot use your Research Proposal essay for this essay. You must write new paragraphs with new topics even if you use the same sources for both essays.
