On the morning of March 1, 2018, Pablo and Mary Barracus, along with their son, Bobby, left their home for a family outing. Mrs. Barracus remembers leaving the slow cooker set to "low" with some posol simmering for dinner. They were away from their home until approximately 6:00 p.m. the same day. When they returned, Mr. Barracus noticed that the front door was ajar. Fearing there might still be an intruder present, he had Mary and Bobby wait outside while he took his Taser and entered the house. Upon entering the house, he immediately noticed that things were different from how they had been left. The first thing Mr. Barracus noticed is that a custom lamp, which he had just purchased for $500 for his wife's birthday, was lying in pieces on the floor of the family room. When Mr. Barracus checked the kitchen, he saw that the lid was off the slow cooker and a bowl with some of the posol was sitting in the sink with a spoon in it. Mr. Barracus then went upstairs to check the sleeping areas. The master bedroom appeared undisturbed. In Bobby's room, however, Mr. Barracus

discovered an unknown female asleep on the floor next to Bobby's bed, wrapped in the bedspread. It appeared as if the intruder had fallen out of the bed. Mr. Barracus rustled the intruder with his foot to wake her and then leveled his Taser in defense, in case she attacked him. The intruder awoke and, upon seeing Mr. Barracus jumped from the floor screaming "Ahhhh, don't tase me, bro!" Mr. Barracus held the female at "Taser-point" while dialing 9-1-1 on his cell phone to summon the police. When the police arrived, they identified the intruder as Geraldine Lockes. After reading Miranda rights to Lockes, Lockes stated that she become lost while out for a walk and began to panic because it was late and she was hungry. She came across the Barracus home and entered it even though she didn't know the owner. She found the posol in the kitchen and had a bowl. She knocked the lamp off the table while trying to navigate through the dark, unfamiliar house. Lockes then wandered upstairs planning to rest her eyes for just a moment but fell asleep. The police took Lockes into custody, accusing her of Criminal Trespass.
