• a particular experience from your childhood, either good or bad, that made you want to be an Early Childhood Educator? What happened and why did this experience make you want to be a caring teacher of young children?
• a particular situation in which you felt successful or unsuccessful as alearner. Why did that occur? How did you feel about the experience? Why did this influence your decision to enter the field of early childhood education?

2. As a result of my experience, what do I believe about how young children learn and why do I believe this? Think about the following questions:

• what do children need in their early years to reach their potential?
• what can I do to promote positive growth and development in young children?

3. What do I believe about diversity in teaching young children?Think about the following questions:

• how will I reflect the individuality of a child and their family in my program?
• how can I incorporate multiculturalism into my program?
• what do I believe about such concepts as equality, individuality, freedom and honesty as they relate to teaching and learning?

4. As a result of my experience what personal qualities and abilities do I possess that will make me successful in working with young children?Think about such things as:

• dedication
• responsibility and reliance
• enthusiasm and a positive outlook
• willingness to take constructive feedback and act upon it
• passion about becoming a teacher
• willingness to improve my effectiveness
• genuine interest in young children and their families

5. As a result of my experience, what do I want or need to learn about to become a more effective teacher?Think about such things as:

• What do I want to learn more about?
• What skills do I need to develop?
