Background:
Your company specializes in providing short term commuter solutions to meet the needs of customers who seek different modes of transportation (other than walking) throughout an urban area. Some of your products include two-wheeled electric scooters, which are more recreational than practical, as speed is limited and last around 2 hours before requiring a recharge, which is perfect for tourism. You also capitalize on bike-sharing throughout various cities, bridging the gap between recreational users and practical modes of transportation. This solution has limits however, as it takes an able body and some energy, as well as being limited to riding weather. Users are beginning to demand something that may be used in inclimite weather and without a means of self-propulsion.
The company wants to expand its market and invest in the development, testing and piloting of a fleet of small, two person vehicles for urban commuters to quickly move around a city where the bicycle sharing system or use of electric scooters is less convenient. This system is called the Short Range Vehicle Sharing System (SRVSS). A typical SRVSS will exist within the confines of a single or two curb-side parking spaces in an inner city. These spaces will contain the SRVSS vehicles themselves. Nearby, there will be a transaction kiosk for walk up customers to rent a vehicle. That said, the primary subsystems of the SRVSS are the vehicles themselves and the transaction kiosks.
The SRVSS Use Case, the primaryscenariofor the SRVSS is as follows:
1.User locates available vehicle at a kiosk.
2.User begins transaction to use vehicle.
3.SRVSS validates transaction.
4.SRVSS validates driver.
5.SRVSS allows driver to use vehicle.
6.Driver uses vehicle in & around the city
7.Vehicle provides comfortable, safe transportation with amenities to the driver and passenger, if present.
8.Driver locates the same or different kiosk and parks the vehicle.
9.SRVSS and user finalize the transaction.
10.Vehicle is "turned over"and made available for the next transaction.
