WHY: Having the ability to write clearly, concisely, and with purpose is very important for your education and career. Though the writing you do in your career may be different from this assignment, the idea is to practice the skills of clear writing overall.

WHAT:

Step 1: Find a job posting for a job related to your desired future career. On a document, submit the link AND a screenshot of the job description (links are often removed).

A good job posting includes:

• 2-5 communication skills
• Specific job title
• Short overview of the position

Step 2: On the same document, complete the following:

Consider your future career role you hope to be in. Complete a response, addressing the following:

• Summarize 2-3 communication skills noted in the job posting and why you think they have been included
  • What is a specific example of each communication skill and how it will be used in the day-to-day job?
• Assess yourself on each of the communication skills from the posting and note where you need improvement and where you possess strengths
• Devise a plan to gain the communication skills you noted as needing improvement

This response should include an introduction and conclusion paragraph that structures the writing for the audience.

HOW: Students must complete the response in full sentences with proper paragraph structure. Approximately 700-900 words. Your document must be submitted in Word (.doc/.docx) or PDF (.pdf) format.
