You are a human resource generalist working in a hospital. A new line manager comes to you
Question:
You are a human resource generalist working in a hospital. A new line manager comes to you
seeking help after he received his first grievance. The line manager has 8 years of experience
working as a floor nurse and was very well respected by his co-workers for his skills and talent as a
nurse. He has been a line manager for less than a year and is starting to show signs of being
discouraged. The grievance he received is from a small group of nurses complaining about heavy
workload and poor scheduling, stating there are not enough staff to safely look after patients on
evening, nights and weekends. The manager has never worked through a grievance before.
