You are a project manager in a new startup or a company and are managing a project (choose the industry, product, or service yourself). Please create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), a WBS dictionary, and finally estimate the cost of the project.
The project can be about developing a software, a product or service.
As we discussed in the class, you can also choose bulding or selling a house as a project.
WBS and WBS dictionary shoud include all the task that must be completed to achive the project goal.
When estimating costs, focus on the "major objectives." You don't need to calculate the cost of all activities in your WBS dictionaryjust assume the cost of your major activities.
For the cost estmation you can you the template provided in the class. Do not forget that we do have Agremnent colum in the template. This column is crucial when parts of the project are outsourced to third parties and a formal agreement or contract specifies the terms, costs, and deliverables. By having this column in your cost estimation and budgeting spreadsheet, you can differentiate between costs that are still estimates and those that have been formally agreed upon with suppliers. Additionally, you can use this column whenever the estimate deviates from the reality of the work activity. For example, if the project task was supposed to be completed in 10 days but was actually done in 8 days, you would reflect that here.
You can also use the "Three-point estimate" method for portions of your cost estimation, where appropriate, to provide a range reflecting optimistic, pessimistic, and most likely cost scenarios. If you use this method, please explain in your screen recording which type of three-point estimation you usedtriangular or beta distribution.
