You are managing a site at Engineering Open House (which unfortunately was canceled this year, so we can only imagine). At this site, children first go to a design station to take measurements and create a design, and then go to a 3D-printer to print objects of their design. Both the design station and the printer can only serve one child at a time. There are five children in the room waiting. Amounts of times they may spend at each place are different and given in the following table

At the moment, no one is at the design station or the printer. You are starving.

Questions:

1. If it is completely up to you, how would you arrange a schedule for these children to take turn to play, so they can be done and you can go to lunch as early as possible? Are you sure that you cannot do any better than that schedule, and if so, why?

2. Dan is asking if you can put him immediately after Betty in the queue, so he can watch her design before making his own. Would you accommodate his request? Why or why not (assuming you want to help but not to the extent that you have to delay your lunch)?

3. Separate from Question 2, Charlie is the second to last to arrive. His father is adamant that since Emily arrives the last, she must wait for Charlie to play first (but he wont object if you put his son in front of others who arrive earlier). Do you need to delay your lunch in order to satisfy him?
