You are responsible for registering and paying for the simulation exercise on the Interpretive Simulations website. We will take some time during the first week of classes to discuss the simulation. There will be individual and group assignments derived from it. As an individual, you need to read the instructions and analyze the case. As a group, you will run the caf and make the decisions that an entrepreneur would have to make. As in the real market, some decisions will be more successful than others.
You will be competing with fellow student teams in operating your business. You do not have to be the winner to do well, in terms of your grade, but you do need to demonstrate that you understand how the concepts discussed in class apply to your business and how your decisions affect the success of your business. The criteria for determining success will be discussed in class.
As a team, you will be required to make business decisions and review your progress. You will complete case briefings and a final presentation. Briefings will include an explanation of the decisions taken, the reasoning behind them, and an update of how your business is doing in the different areas (marketing, management, finance/accounting, operations, etc.). You will also discuss some of the challenges you anticipate and changes you plan to do in the running of your business.
The final presentation should include a review of your progress running the business, your decisions, the outcomes, and what you have learned from running the simulation. With your team, co-create a PowerPoint slide deck of no more than twenty-five slides (including notes and references). Your completed slide deck is to be submitted by your team leader. The final slide should be a Credits slide that identifies which team member(s) took the lead on, or were responsible for, each slide in the presentation.
In addition to Registering individually, there are four deliverables (A-D) for this assignment:
