Hello and welcome to the Initech IT Asset Management business case introduction. I recommend that you also review the executive summary document as we will only provide a high-level overview in this presentation.

The office of the CIO initiated a project last fiscal year with the finance, procurement, and IT departments to review and evaluate our IT Asset Management program and processes.

Several gaps were identified with finance and procurement, and a project was completed to define and implement the Specify and Acquire stages of the IT Asset lifecycle.

Following the implementation of the Specify and Acquire stages an audit was performed on the remaining stages (Deploy, Service, and Retire), and several problems were identified.

This included the use of Excel spreadsheets to track asset tags, serial numbers, and other identifiers for IT asset. There was duplication of data and lack of consistency between models, condition, models, and assignment.

There was also a lack of validation on unique identifiers like serial number. Most, if not all, spreadsheets did not track stages including In Use, In Stock, and Retired. Because the data was stored in multiple spreadsheets and the data was inconsistent, lack of reporting features needed by leadership.

Leadership would like to focus on implementing a system and several processes to overcome challenges identified during a recent audit. You will be responsible for the planning, analysis, design and implementation of the system and process for the deploy, service, and retire stages of the IT Asset Management program."
