You work as a Junior Sustainability Engineer within the Estates & Commercial Services department at a University in the West Midlands. Your role involves providing advice, guidance and evidence to support decision$-$making to help achieve the University$$s goals around environmental sustainability and achieving Carbon Net Zero campuses. As a key member of the Estates Projects Team, you will provide your input to an in$-$house team meeting, organised by your manager.

You have been asked to create some informative material to present and hand out in the meeting, use your existing knowledge and research with a variety of sources, statistics and expert opinions on the topic of sustainability, consider the following items:

Activity $1$:

Investigate the environmental, resource and demand issues that contribute to the technical challenges in ensuring sustainable development. You should provide a detailed explanation of the nature of these challenges, as well as the size and scale that they cover. Additionally, you should provide a review of the existing sustainable development plans and demonstrate how these plans aim to solve those practical and technological challenges.

On a wider scale, within the context of sustainability, analyse how social, economic and environmental factors interrelate and demonstrate how they could be managed effectively and efficiently for achieving peak sustainability.
