You worked very hard on an assignment because you need to bring up your grade in the course. It is your best work yet and expected an "A" but received a "C." The written feedback left you feeling that you did very little well and now you are worried about your grade and frustrated that your efforts are not recognized and distrustful of your instructor. Listen to your instructor's recorded feedback and provide an unfiltered gut response. "So your paper, I I really just generally felt that it it lacked an intention. It didn't look like you put the required time into submitting something that was of the level that I expect where we are at. Now, there were a number of things that I highlighted. This is really a basic skill and you should have it mastered by now and I really felt that you didn't have it consistent throughout the paper. Your citations were weak, you just took quotes from different locations and threw them into the paper. And you didn't really paraphrase or seem to even understand what it is. You were cutting and pasting because they weren't always relevant to the other parts of the paper, and you used very lengthy quotes. I had mentioned that you also need to really have better supporting arguments and your own thoughts on social change. And I didn't feel that you had put in your own ideas into this paper. It really looked like kind of a puzzle, piecing together all of these quotes from different parts of the paper and sticking them together. In addition to that, the grammar is problematic, and it didn't look like you'd even gone through the paper once to edit and these are really basic level skills that I would have expected to be mastered where we are at in grad school. So you know I wasn't impressed and it just didn't look like something that I would expect to be submitted for this level."
