I will use the Second Amendment as an example because this is not one of the amendments that we discussed in class.

This is the original text of the Second Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Let's say that I did my research and I found some resources that support the change I would like to make, which is to make it clear that the right to bear arms can be exclusively for the right to defense, rather than just military service. This modification was supported by my research and by the Florida Constitution's Declaration of Rights. So in this assignment, this is what I would post:

For my modification, I would like to add to the Second Amendment increased civil liberty for citizens and include the right to bear arms for the defense of others, not just military service.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and of the lawful authority of the state shall not be infringed, except that the manner of bearing arms may be regulated by law.

I believe that this change will explicitly increase the civil liberties in the Second Amendment to add the right to bear arms for a variety of purposes. This will help to avoid the possible contention that the Second Amendment is meant only for militia, or military, service.
