A patient walked into a dentists office in a country (with a high context culture) without an appointment. She was from Switzerland but spoke only in Italian. She was in a lot of pain and wanted her tooth pulled. The dentist was trying to explain to her that it would be better to save the tooth than pull it, but she didnt understand and wanted her tooth pulled immediately. When she left the office, the receptionist was on a lunch break and the paperwork wasnt handed to her at the end of her visit. A few days later the patient received the bill in her cousins mailbox where she was visiting. She was very upset and had her cousin call the receptionist because she did not realize it would cost that much money and she was there on holiday to visit her relatives. She refused to pay the bill because she felt that the dentist could have used Google translator to explain how much it would cost before he extracted the tooth.
