Question: Your team has been seeing steadily improving success for 1 0 . 5 of the last 1 2 months . If you finish the year
Your team has been seeing steadily improving success for
of the last months If you finish the year strong, the team will receive a federal grant. The grant is only available to organizations of a certain organizational size, based on effectiveness. That isthe candidates have to demonstrate proof of conceptto be authorized for the grant, which can then help that organization to scaleup
The grant is structured in such a way that it could be used from anything from previously unpaid salaries to new expansions of operations.
Although everyone is working voluntarily, the team previously decided that the grant money would be split evenly if it was received. Each member could then decide how to use their portion of the money. Some might keep it as a reward for their work; some might invest in the organization to continue the work. There are eight members of the team. Two teammates, Xi and Luna, have recently had the house that they shared burned to the ground in an accidental fire.
Thus far, the success of the team has been entirely dependent on the ideas imagined by your teammate Paula. Without her ingenuity and determination, the organization would never have started, let alone achieved the donations it has. She helped overcome a significant obstacle to get started and several other hurdles along the way.
The team runs an organization that collects unsold food from farms, local grocery stores, and restaurants, contacts organizations that could use it immediately, and quickly coordinates the transfer of food. To move quickly enough to prevent the food from spoiling is difficult, but cooking some of the food was an innovative, valueadded step that Paula created that helps to attract a recipient when the food is reaching a health and safety deadline. However, to keep cooked food warm or to freeze it for longerlife takes energy and equipment, which costs more money and makes transport more complicated.
Another teammate, Morgan, has consistently worked at least
hours per week for the last two months straight. They even missed the birth of their only child while they were delivering a truckload of tomatoes to a food shelter. However, in their excitement and due to lack of sleep, they accidentally totaled the rental delivery truck on the return route. Luckily, they are okay, but the team had to take out a loan from the bank to cover the vehicle damages. The amount of the loan is equal to one persons share of the grant money. The loan must be paid within a month, or it will disqualify the teams eligibility because it will show financial instability.
Kerry is also on the team, but she has not been working very often because she has another job. It allows her to pay her car payment, student loans, and health insurance that is necessary to afford her prescriptions. Still, she lives paycheck to paycheck. You would also like to payoff your student loans with your portion of the grant, but also see a few improvements that can be made to the organization with the money that would make your tasks easier. You do not have another job but are making ends meet by living with your father and brother in a studio apartment.
You receive a phone call that the twin teammates, Turner and Romeo, got arrested. They were taking a shortcut across campus, unknowingly during a protest that became violent just as they were arriving. Police officers were grabbing students as statues were being toppled and the schools signature trees were intentionally or unintentionally lit on fire. The twins are certain that security cameras will show their innocence, but they need bail money equal to of the grant award, an amount of money that would represent five teammates' portions of the grant. The team is not likely to reach its yearend goals without two more people, but due to the way the bail rules work, a credit payment can be made that effectively does not have to be paid for days. That is because of the delay in processing and since a credit card company gives a certain amount of leeway before it charges a late fee. One way to get them free is for at least five members to agree to donate their share of the grant to post bail that would be placed on one persons personal credit card. It is unknown how long they could be in jail if bail is not posted, but it is likely to be at least a few weeks because of the process that would be needed to get access to the footage since the school has already filed vague charges against the protestors.
