Yusoff (2019) identified six steps in a study to quantify the face validity index based on evidence from a systematic approach. The steps include the response process validation form, selection of panel raters, conducting the response process validation, reviewing for clarity and comprehension, scoring for every item based on the clarity and comprehensibility rating scale, and calculating the face value index. The panel of raters are also the survey respondents, and they must understand the task. The panel raters are selected based on the target group for the subject matter being studied. Yusoff (2019) found that face-to-face surveys resulted in higher response rates. The raters (respondents) rate each item on the survey based on clarity and comprehensibility. The face value index of the survey is calculated based on the clarity and comprehensibility scores.
