Generalized Regression Techniques and Variable Selection In Chapter 9, we introduced generalized regression techniques as an approach to handling the multicollinearity problem. The LASSO can sometimes be used effectively for variable selection because it can shrink some regression coefficients to zero. Apply the LASSO to the Hald cement data and compare the results obtained to the models that were built previously in this chapter.
