I was sent to South Korea to investigate a problem with a two-pole motor. The vibration signatures indicated an increase in 1× vibration as the motor, under load, came up to operating temperature. Unfortunately, a faulty rotor was the diagnosis. This was a cast rotor. What two tests could have been performed that would have diagnosed this problem before shipment?
