Question:
For the rice preparation problem in Example 12.5,
if three cups of water are used to wash the rice before cooking, draw the Sankey diagram and determine the material efficiency.
Transcribed Image Text:
Example 12.5 Cooking 1 cup of dry rice requires 2 cups of water. In the cooking process 40 percent of the water evaporates, but with a covered pot most of it is recycled in such a way that the net loss of water is only 10 percent. Draw a Sankey diagram for this process. What is the material efficiency of this process? One cup of dry rice weighs 184 g and 2 cups of water weigh 480 g.
