Carrie, who is in charge of tax matters at Eel, cannot find a copy of the original S election, Form 2553. The original shareholders and officers all agree that a local accountant filed the form, but he passed away last year. Several of the shareholders instruct Carrie to prepare a backdated Form 2553, which they will sign. Carrie could then copy the form and tell the agent that this was a copy of the original Form 2553.
