Dr. Weisinger’s second suggestion is to listen fully, mindfully. This can be difficult if the other person seems to be attacking you personally, yet focused listening is deeply confirming. Don’t interrupt, correct, or argue. Just listen and try to understand the other person’s perspective. Dealing with conflict in these two ways provides a foundation for productive conversation.
