Temperature & Humidity – For most people, indoor working temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit or about 86 degrees Fahrenheit can significantly decrease work performance. The ambient (room) temperature that is comfortable is also affected by humidity. The general comfort zone for humidity is in the range of 40 to 60 percent. Too little humidity can cause problems with static electricity or drying of the nose, sinuses, and throat, which leads to increased chances for contracting colds and the flu. Excess humidity makes higher temperatures more uncomfortable or may cause sensitive equipment to jam or malfunction.
