Conduct the following exercise with teams of five people. The instructor will read a factual story (from a newspaper, magazine, or other source) to one member of each team. That person will retell the story to another person on the team; this person will relay the story to another team member, and so on. This will continue until the last member of each team has heard the story. Then the last student to have the story told to him or her will relate the story to the instructor. The instructor will check the story against the original article. The team with the greatest accuracy will win this listening activity.
