Initially, mass m = 1.0 kg and mass M are both at rest on a frictionless inclined plane (Figure). Mass M rests against a spring that has a spring constant of 11,000 N/m. The distance along the plane between m and M is 4.0 m. Mass m is released, makes an elastic collision with mass M, and rebounds a distance of 2.56 m back up the inclined plane. Mass M comes to rest momentarily 4.0 cm from its initial position. Find the mass M.
