Predict the phases formed when a bar of 1080 steel is quenched from slightly above the eutectoid temperature under the following conditions:
(a) Oil (without agitation);
(b) Oil (with agitation);
(c) Water (with agitation); and
(d) Brine (no agitation).
Suggest a quenching medium if we wish to obtain coarse pearlite. (See Figure 13-14 and Table 13-2)
