The City of Austin, Texas, maintains a website to report performance measures in the areas of public safety, community services, infrastructure services, utilities/major business enterprises, economic and financial health. The city’s dashboard measures were selected in March 2011 using a collaborative process between citizens and city staff.

Access the City of Austin’s performance measures website at www.austintexas. gov/budget/eperf/index.cfm. Select one of the city’s 37 departments and prepare a memo that includes a description of the department’s performance measures (also termed key indicators), detail of the annual target and annual actual performance, and an assessment of whether you believe the department has been successful in meeting its goals and objectives.
