The Condition of the Liberal Arts in America’s Public Schools were released on March, 8, 2004. It was the first study on how the No Child Left Behind Act might be influencing instructional time in the social studies, that is, the arts, geography, history, and foreign languages. The study surveyed more than 1000 principals in four states and found that 47% of principals at high minority schools reported decreases in elementary social studies.
