The engineer will have spent his or her career thinking about computer design. All the “interesting”

problems will lie there. The MIS professor will have spent his or her career thinking about information systems; that is, what they are, how they are built, and how they do or do not facilitate the goals of organizations. The “important” problems arise when groups of people try to work together to accomplish something.

Both are correct, from their own perspectives.
