When presenting this case, I worry about leaving the impression with the students that IT departments are always resistant and uncooperative. This is certainly not the case. I believe the fundamental problem was that, from the IT department's perspective, Dee had an unrealistic schedule. That department simply wasn't going to move as fast as Dee wanted. So, she pushed, and they resisted. Dee finally went to a very high level to force them to allow Don access. She won, but in the process she exposed Emerson to a serious security risk.
