Exercise 5: Computer Specifications Objectives 1. Specify minimum hardware requirements for different scenarios. 2. Identify software needs. 3. Justify the recommendations for the requirements for both hardware and software. 4. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate concepts and terms related to hardware and software. Directions 1. You are serving on a school committee that is deciding what technology incoming students must purchase. You are one of several students representing the student point of view. Think about what tasks you will be required to complete as a student—writing papers, conducting research, creating PowerPoint presentations, podcasts, group projects, and so forth. 2. Make a list of tasks students perform for which technology would be a great asset. 3. Identify the technology specifications you believe will meet those requirements. Make sure you address the specifics of hardware, software, data access, and connectivity. 4. Support your work with at least two articles identifying what schools in your area and across the country are doing in relation to technology requirements for students and how they anticipate using the technology. 5.
