See “The Partnership.” Art, Ben, and Diedre are partners of Alphabet Builders, a partnership in the construction business. They meet at a restaurant with a prospective new partner, Don, who says he will decide whether to enter the partnership after discussing the matter with his wife. During the meeting, they are approached by John, with whom the partnership has been attempting to do business. 

Art introduces Don to John, stating, “We’re celebrating Don’s joining Alphabet Builders.” Don and John shake hands, and John says, “Congratulations! Alphabet Builders has a very good reputation. In fact, I’m about to become one of your new clients. I signed the contract this morning.” Don says nothing in response to John’s statement. Subsequently, Don decides not to join Alphabet Builders. Nonetheless, when Alphabet Builders breaches its contract with John, John sues Don on the contract. Is Don liable to John?
