Employees need the money that they earn through work and so managers can never be certain if employees simply comply with what is expected of them in order to maintain their income. Consequently talk of being an ‘employer of choice’ or of having a ‘committed workforce’ is irrelevant and only used to create a positive impression. To what extent is that view correct?
