A phased array is designed to operate at a wavelength of 6 cm. The antenna elements are spaced at intervals of 4 cm. 

(i) Show that if the beam is steered more than 30° away from the normal (θ = 0) direction it will respond to radiation from two directions instead of just one. 

(ii) Show that this phenomenon of multiple responses can eliminated if the antenna elements are less than half a wavelength apart.
