I do try to surround myself with positive people in my work and personal life. I do this to encourage me and challenge me to do better. These people hold me accountable for my actions. In terms of the workplace I believe it would be beneficial to put the right people in the right places not only builds a great team but also builds an individual’s confidence. The team functions as a cohesive unit and although they may have different idea on how things should be done the right people together can support and motivate each other."The most effective leaders understand their followers' needs."

It is the desire I believe of most managers to understand what their followers need. In gaining greater understanding of the needs of their followers’ manager become more effective leaders. They can guide their followers and play on their strengths while continuously working on their weaker area to make them stronger. Although both of these opinions sound good the reality for some including myself is that I don't work for a manager who embodies either of these qualities. My day to day job is not very difficult but it’s made stressful by a manager who criticizes rather than compliments employees for their hard work and dedication. During most of the meetings we have she voices more complaints about the work that is not being done and ways to improve but offers very little in growth, progress, or our accomplishments.
