What should the criteria be for an offender to be sentenced to probation? Perhaps the most obvious
Question:
What should the criteria be for an offender to be sentenced to probation?
Perhaps the most obvious answer is non-violent offenders and those in need of treatment (such as addicts or those whose crimes are brought on by a treatable mental instability). But this only considers the needs of the offender. Things may be different when thinking about it from the perspective of the local community. for example, local residents might argue that drug offenders are not be a good choice for community corrections because they tend to be high-recidivism offenders whose presence has a destabilizing effect on the daily life of a neighborhood. In answering, try to consider not only the needs of the offender, but also the needs of other stakeholders- people and groups who have a stake in the outcome.
Response 1 - please provide response if u r agree or disagree why or why not to my classmate -I don’t personally think that volunteer organizations should be regulated by any level of the government. I think that volunteer organizations should stay private. I think however that volunteer organizations should follow basic emergency management guidelines that have been implemented by the government and government programs such as FEMA. This is MEREILY for the sake of standardization of response to a disaster. I think if governments because too involved in volunteer organizations it could cause more issues that not.
Response 2 I believe that voluntary organizations should have to follow guidelines the governments enact when doing their activities, when it comes to important decisions about the disaster. If there are no guidelines then all the voluntary associations will want to do different things. The disaster will become more chaotic because even the agencies will not have control. The governments should have guidelines that need to be followed and allow voluntary organizations to make executive decision in between through effective communication with one another. Unit 3 of the FEMA article states that agencies have the ability to work very well together, especially with governments, as long as they follow four simple rules. As long as there are guidelines to be followed then the chaos of the disaster will be minimized and will allow agencies to work together in peace.
