1. Identify what the database needs to provide to the user. What questions do users need answered? What information needs to be tracked? What reports need to be produced? What data are needed to provide the basis for those results? 2. Identify the data fields needed to produce the required information; in doing so, identify rules that define the integrity of the data. I have been asked to create an applicant database for The Cleaning Agency. I will be using a database that files each new hire and the requirements for each job they applied for. The database that I will provide to user, will keep records of new hire's training for job positions. By me keeping track of new hires training for job positions, the user will be able to identify who is ready to work full time for the company. Different job positions require different job trainings. As is, the HRIS PDF response to questions 1 and 2 needs to be in a Word document (not PDF) and much more thought and detail about what is needed (#1) as well as the technical details of what fields will be there and the technical relationships and rules that define the data's integrity (#2). Basically, for #2, describe the types of fields and how the tables will relate to each other. As it stands, only partial credit for #1 would be granted if this was the real project.
